The Brief
Melaka Gateway is a large-scale mixed development on the Strait of Malacca — positioned between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, bringing together investment, tourism, commercial activity and waterfront infrastructure. Rechner Media was engaged for a focused project covering the website redesign and publicity planning as the development entered a new phase.
After a period of uncertainty, the Melaka state government returned the development to its developer in 2022 and work on Pulau Melaka East 1 (PME1) resumed, bringing plans for the international cruise terminal back onto the public agenda. The problem was that the public record hadn’t caught up — anyone searching for Melaka Gateway found the old story, not the current one, and investors, media and partners had no single reliable place to see where the project actually stood. That called for more than a visual refresh; it needed a coherent reintroduction, and somewhere for it to live.
Website Design & Development for Melaka Gateway
We redesigned and developed the Melaka Gateway website as the project’s central public-facing platform, structured so a visitor could understand the development without first having to know its history.
The site introduces Melaka Gateway and its strategic location, with dedicated sections on PME1, sustainable development, smart-city planning and investment opportunities. A media section gathers announcements and third-party coverage in one place, and a direct enquiry path serves prospective investors and business partners. Large-scale imagery and generous layouts carry the scale of the development, with responsive behaviour across desktop, tablet and mobile.

Public & Media Relations for Melaka Gateway
We shaped how the renewed development would be presented — identifying the narratives, project information and milestones that needed to reach the public, and the order to release them in.
The publicity direction set the project’s return in its wider context: resumed development, renewed government engagement, progress on the international cruise terminal, and the potential contribution to tourism, investment and economic activity in Melaka. The point was to give media and stakeholders a clear account of what had changed, so the earlier uncertainty stopped being the only available story.
Our services:
- Publicity planning and narrative development
- Key message and milestone mapping
- Media relations support
Outcome
The two pieces worked as one. The publicity plan re-established Melaka Gateway in the public conversation; the website gave that conversation somewhere to land — a current, credible destination for understanding the project and reaching the team behind it.
